Introduction
Hi players! We know that many of you are not English native speakers, and your servers may be german, french or spanish. However, today we will show you how to translate FiveM scripts. It is a way for the community to help translate the FiveM scripts. It’s very easy to do, and it can make your FiveM server more fun to play in other languages!
Downloade zuerst Notepad++
In this tutorial, we will use the program called Notepad++ !
This program allows us to see all code in color so we know what to translate. We only want to translate strings.
You can download the program via this link: https://notepad-plus-plus.org/downloads/
Choose a LUA script
The first step is to download the lua script. The developer will have provided a link to the lua script on their server, and you can download it by right-clicking on the link and selecting “Save Link As.” Once you’ve done that, open up your text editor of choice and then drag-and-drop the lua script file into it. Finally, start translating!
Once you installed Notepad++, open the script with the program by right clicking:

To begin translating all you need to do is go through each line of code like this:

Just make sure that all code you translate are strings (here you can see they are written in “”).
Important: Do NOT translate any variables!
Open the server.lua and client.lua of your scripts you want to translate and go through all texts. Test your scripts thoroughly to see if something is missing.
Save your translations
Just save the lua file by clicking the save icon in the top left corner of Notepad++. If you find a script that needs translating, send your translation to the developer using GitHub’s Pull Request feature. The developer will review your translation and merge it into the master branch if they believe it improves upon what they have already. The developer will then test your translation and publish it on their website if all goes well! The developer may notify you that your translations have been merged, but don’t take this as confirmation of success; sometimes things break before release and must be fixed by hand by developers.
If something does go wrong, don’t despair! Just submit another pull request with fixes for any issues identified in testing or publishing – no problem!
If you followed all the steps and still didn’t hear back from the developer, try again in a few days.
A lot of times, people just forget to merge your translation.
If they don’t respond after a week or so, send them a message on Discord asking if they’ve seen your pull request (this is where you should include a link to it).
Ask for help to translate FiveM scripts
You may ask your team members (support team) to help translating English scripts. You can use Google Translate or DeepL if you are not familiar in English! Translating FiveM scripts into other languages is a great way to help the developer improve their FiveM scripts. If you’re fluent in another language and want to contribute, here’s what you need to know:
- You should be able to read and write in both English and your target language fluently.
- You should have at least some experience translating documents from one language into another.
- You will work with other translators on a team who have already been approved by the developer.
As an incentive for helping out with translations, FiveM will offer special roles (such as [Translation Squad Member]) that allow users access to certain parts of their website as well as a free copy of any game they release in the future!
